SUPPORTING STRONGER COMMUNITIES
|
Community Chaplains is a voluntary Christian chaplaincyThrough building caring relationships we hope to strengthen secular and church links and provide pastoral, spiritual and practical support to strengthen our local communities.

"I can see the benefits of a pilot for a Community Chaplains scheme in our Borough and support this going ahead. Richmond is recognised as being home to a high percentage of elderly people living alone, with that comes vulnerability and risk, this is something that my officers deal with daily. This scheme looks to reach those vulnerable people, putting aside their religious or cultural background and focusing on their welfare-related needs. There is a need in our community for that hand to reach out to those who find themselves cut off from the rest of the world. I wish the Community Chaplains success in developing such a necessary and innovative scheme."
Ch. Sup. Parm Sandhu, former borough Commander

“I support the proposed pilot for Community Chaplains in the borough. I believe the programme can help address the need for social interaction and care that is needed in our community.
I hope that your service will add, and not replace or duplicate current services. Just as Street Pastors have been a great asset in the community it would be exciting if Community Chaplains can become part of our community services.” |
